Board Member

Mr. Castillo is a Legislator of the Republic of Panama with studies from the College of Law and Political Science of the University of Panama and an honorary doctorate, granted by the Universidad Latinoamericana y del Caribe (ULAC).

He has been elected Legislator of the Republic for seven periods, six of them consecutive and his career includes the presidency of the National Assembly and standing working committees. He was also President of the National Constituent Assembly that approved the Constitution of 1972 and President of the National Assembly of Representatives of Corregimiento.

He has extensive experience in public office, among others, in the Ministry of Government and Justice, the Municipality of the District of Panama, the National Directorate of Immigration and Naturalization, in the Community Board of El Chorrillo and as elementary school teacher.

In the international parliamentary arena, he has held positions in the Latin American Parliament, being President, Vice President, General Secretary, as well as member of the Consultative Council and Co-Vice President of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (EUROLAT).

He was a member of several civic and sports organizations and has been awarded decorations and recognition from national authorities. He has also participated in meetings and hearings with senior figures at an international level.

He took office as member of the Board of Directors of the Panama Canal Authority on September 2, 2015.
