As of May 31, the material excavation and removal work on the hill located north of the Pedro Miguel locks, was estimated at approximately 50 percent of its completion. Additionally, cruise transits increased by 34.7 percent during the second quarter of the Panama Canal&#8217;s 2008 fiscal year (January-March). During that period, 124 cruise ships have gone through the Panama Canal, compared to 92 during the same quarter in 2007.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Panama Canal Authority (ACP)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe ACP is the autonomous agency of the Government of Panama in charge of managing, operating and maintaining the Panama Canal.
