After completing the swearing-in process, before the executive branch, the following individuals officially assume their positions today, Wednesday, as new members of the Panama Canal Authority Board of Directors: Domingo Latorraca Mill\u00e1n, Diego Herrera Dutari, and Jorge Enrique Vallarino Miranda.<\/p>\n

Domingo Latorraca Mill\u00e1n<\/strong><\/p>\n

He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University (USA). He is a founding partner of Elemente, a consulting firm specializing in planning and analytics, corporate governance, financial advisory, and project management. Previously, he led the strategy and analytics practice for Deloitte in Hispanic America. He was CEO of Deloitte Panama and a member of the regional Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

Earlier, he also served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture of Panama and held the position of Vice Minister of Economy of the Republic of Panama (2000\u20132003).<\/p>\n

Diego Herrera Dutari<\/strong><\/p>\n

He earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in Law and Political Science from Universidad Santa Mar\u00eda La Antigua (1991). He later studied at Tulane University (USA, 1993) and obtained an MBA from INCAE Business School (Costa Rica, 1995).<\/p>\n

Herrera Dutari has been with Galindo, Arias & L\u00f3pez since 1986, where he has excelled as managing attorney, leading change and restructuring processes. His law practice focuses on advising multinational and national companies, particularly in the financial, industrial, and public services sectors.<\/p>\n

Jorge E. Vallarino<\/strong><\/p>\n

He is the Executive Director of Global Bank Corporation. He holds an MBA with honors from Duke University\u2019s Fuqua School of Business (USA, 2005) and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stanford University (USA, 2000).<\/p>\n

Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of the INCAE Business School and is president of Ense\u00f1a por Panam\u00e1, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educational advancement. He has also held leadership positions in major organizations such as Latinex Holdings, the Panama Stock Exchange, and Rey Holdings.<\/p>\n

About the Panama Canal Authority Board of Directors<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the Organic Law of the Panama Canal, the Board of Directors is responsible for setting policies for the operation, improvement, and modernization of the canal, and for overseeing its administration in accordance with the Political Constitution, the aforementioned Law, and related regulations.<\/p>\n

The board is comprised of eleven directors. Nine are appointed by the executive branch and confirmed by the National Assembly. One director is appointed by the legislative branch, and the President of the Republic appoints a director who also serves as Minister for Canal Affairs and presides over the board.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
