Beginning on that date, one weekly slot will be reserved exclusively for vessels that meet low-emission criteria.<\/p>\n<p>Benefits for clients awarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/pancanal.com\/en\/netzero-slot\/\">NetZero<\/a> Slot include:<br \/>\n\u2022 Freedom to select their preferred transit date within the assigned week.<br \/>\n\u2022 Guaranteed transit within 24 hours.<br \/>\n\u2022 Inclusion of the Just-in-Time service.<br \/>\n\u2022 Flexibility to exchange, or substitute vessels of equivalent specifications.<\/p>\n<p>Participation Requirements:<\/p>\n<p>In this initial phase, vessels must be registered as dual-fuel and capable of operating on at least one fuel with a carbon intensity factor equal to, or less than 75 gCO\u2082e\/MJ. Eligible fuels include green methanol, green ammonia, bio-LNG (Liquified Natural Gas), or bio-LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas). While immediate use of these fuels will not be required, the canal will recognize the investment and capacity to operate them once supply becomes available.<\/p>\n<p>Selection Process:<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/pancanal.com\/en\/netzero-slot\/\">NetZero Slot<\/a> will not be auctioned. Instead, vessels will compete weekly under a prioritization scheme based on:<br \/>\n1. Cargo Condition: Preference given to loaded vessels.<br \/>\n2. PCUMS Capacity: Priority awarded to higher tonnage.<br \/>\n3. Economic Contribution: Combined payments from tolls, maritime services, and fees from prior transit (used as a tiebreaker).<\/p>\n<p>With this initiative, the Panama Canal reaffirms its role as a catalyst of the global energy transition, offering customers a clear incentive to accelerate the adoption of alternative fuels and low-carbon technologies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/pancanal.com\/en\/netzero-slot\/\">NetZero Slot<\/a> is an unequivocal signal of our commitment to sustainability and the competitiveness of global trade.
