{"id":6988,"date":"2017-08-30T11:53:49","date_gmt":"2017-08-30T11:53:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pancanal.com\/en\/?p=6988"},"modified":"2021-09-09T05:21:15","modified_gmt":"2021-09-09T05:21:15","slug":"panama-canal-welcomes-second-more-than-14000-teus-container-vessel-through-expanded-locks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pancanal.com\/en\/panama-canal-welcomes-second-more-than-14000-teus-container-vessel-through-expanded-locks\/","title":{"rendered":"Panama Canal Welcomes Second More Than 14,000 TEUs Container Vessel Through Expanded Locks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Panama City, Panama, August 30, 2017 &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0For the second time in one week, the Panama Canal welcomed a container vessel with a Total TEU Allowance (TTA) of 14,863, reaffirming the value of the expanded waterway.<\/p>\n<p><center><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pancanal.com\/eng\/pr\/press-releases\/images\/633\/633-lge.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"border\" title=\"Photo Courtesy of ACP\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pancanal.com\/eng\/pr\/press-releases\/images\/633\/633-sm.jpg\" align=\"center\" \/><\/a><\/center>CMA CGM J Adams matched the capacity of the CMA CGM Theodore Roosevelt, which established a new record as the largest capacity container vessel on August 22 with the same mark of 14,863 TTA.<\/p>\n<p>Like the CMA CGM Theodore Roosevelt, CMA CGM J Adams is deployed on the new OCEAN Alliance&#8217;s weekly South Atlantic Express (SAX) service, which connects Asia and U.S. East Coast ports via the Panama Canal.<\/p>\n<p>The SAX service is composed of 11 vessels ranging in size from 11,000 to 14,000 TEUs, including vessels which also transited the Expanded Canal earlier in May becoming the largest capacity ships to do so at time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Both transits over a period of seven days are further evidence of the impact of the Expanded Panama Canal to world maritime trade,&#8221; said Panama Canal Administrator Jorge L.
