{"id":7107,"date":"2016-04-18T13:14:19","date_gmt":"2016-04-18T13:14:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pancanal.com\/en\/?p=7107"},"modified":"2021-09-09T07:27:52","modified_gmt":"2021-09-09T07:27:52","slug":"panama-canal-begins-to-take-transit-reservations-for-expanded-canal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pancanal.com\/en\/panama-canal-begins-to-take-transit-reservations-for-expanded-canal\/","title":{"rendered":"Panama Canal Begins to Take Transit Reservations for Expanded Canal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Panama City, Panama, April 18, 2016 &#8211;<\/strong> Today, the Panama Canal began accepting transit reservations for Neopanamax vessels for commercial transits through the Expanded Canal starting on June 27, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In light of the upcoming Expansion inauguration date, the Panama Canal will offer four additional slots per day for Neopanamax vessels, in addition to the existing 25 slots of the current Canal.<\/p>\n<p>The first reservation was granted to a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker LINDEN PRIDE of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line), represented by shipping agent Norton Lilly International (Panama), S.A. The vessel has a length of 754.59 ft. and beam of 120.08 ft.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday marks an important day in Canal history because the reservation system is now opened for Neopanamax ships that will start using the new lane starting June 27,\u201d Panama Canal Administrator Jorge L. Quijano said. \u201cWe are pleased with the results of this initial phase of transit reservations and we hope that each day more vessels transit through the expanded Canal,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once the first period of competition closed, 25 Neopanamax vessels had reserved transit through the new locks.<\/p>\n<p>This initial phase of transit reservations corresponds to transit dates between June 27, 2016 and September 30, 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Panama City, Panama, April 18, 2016 &#8211; Today, the Panama Canal began accepting transit reservations for Neopanamax vessels for commercial transits through the Expanded Canal starting on June 27, 2016.
