Panama City, Panama, May 18, 2014 –<\/strong>\u00a0The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) reports that the ship Sun Rise, with four new gates for the Third Set of Locks, has sailed for Panama from Trieste, Italy.<\/p>\n

The ship is expected to arrive to Panama in mid-June, depending on weather conditions.<\/p>\n

“This is another important milestone towards the completion of a project that will have an important impact on the international maritime community,” said Panama Canal Administrator Jorge Luis Quijano.<\/p>\n

This is the second shipment of gates being transported to Panama. Currently in the country are four other gates that arrived in August 2013.<\/p>\n

The Panama Canal Expansion Program is currently 74% complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
