Panama City, 15 August 2001.<\/b>– Today, on the Canal\u2019s 87th anniversary, the Panama Canal Authority is proud to announce the debut of its \u201cVirtual Newsroom\u201d, which will offer web surfers first-hand information about the waterway. The Canal website can be found at\u00a0http:\/\/www.pancanal.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Interviews with Canal officials, press releases, frequently asked questions, electronic publications, and a selection of downloadable current and historic photographs are among the sections web surfers can access in the Virtual Newsroom.<\/p>\n

This new part of the Canal\u2019s web site will be continuously improved and updated to meet the information needs submitted by its users, and will also include new segments currently under construction. Additionally, journalists will soon be able to register at the site to automatically receive updated material on the Canal.
