Mr. Nelson Jackson Palma holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Political Science from the Inter-American University of Distance Education of Panama and a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Banking Administration from the University of Santa Maria La Antigua.
He has held important public positions since 1992: Mayor of the District of Portobelo from 1992 to 2004 and Delegate of the Republic of Panama from 2004 to 2009, subsequently re-elected until 2029.
During his term in the National Assembly, he served as Vice-Chairman of the Budget and Narcotics Commissions; Chairman of the Housing, Economy and Finance, Public Infrastructure and Canal Affairs, and Commerce and Economy Commissions; and Commissioner of the Budget, Commerce and Economy, and Foreign Affairs Commissions.
In addition, Mr. Jackson Palma has served as Coordinator of Cooperatives and Community Projects for the Pro Excellence Foundation and is a member of the National Bar Association. He currently owns a tourism company and is a proud agricultural producer.
He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Panama Canal Authority on August 8, 2024.
