Panama, June 5, 2001. The Panama Canal Advisory Board’s newest member, Salvador A. Jurado, visited the waterway for the first time this week.

Jurado’s stay in Panama included meetings with Canal Administrator Alberto Aleman Zubieta and the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) Board of Directors, during which he was briefed on Canal widening and modernization projects.

ACP board members Emanuel Gonzalez-Revilla and Moises Mizrachi accompanied Jurado during a tour of the Miraflores Locks area. Jurado also visited the Canal Traffic Control Center.

Salvador Jurado heads a number of companies in the Florida engineering, manufacturing, real estate and construction industries. A practicing civil engineer since 1971, he has been involved in the development of key projects in the United States, South America and the Caribbean.
