Panama City, Panama, May 16, 2019 – The Panama Canal Board of Directors and Advisory Board met in Panama City, Panama for a three-day meeting on the waterway’s performance and opportunities for future growth.

The Boards, which meet twice a year, gathered to review the Canal’s current operations, strong financial standing, progress on water sources projects and complementary business opportunities, among other topics. The group also discussed industry trends that may impact the waterway in the short- and long-term.

Established in 1999, the Panama Canal Advisory Board is comprised of distinguished industry leaders from relevant sectors such as transportation, commerce, telecommunications, development, academia and banking. Together, they offer key strategic insight and counsel to the waterway’s Board of Directors and the Administration´s leadership, to improve the efficiency, safety and reliability of the Panama Canal’s operations and safeguard the competitiveness of the route.

During their time in Panama, the Advisory Board and Board of Directors visited the recently inaugurated IMAX Theater that operates as a concession and had meetings at the Miraflores Visitors Center building of the Panama Canal.
