PANAMA CITY, Panama, October 04, 2007 – The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) removed and replaced the turntable used by the locomotives at Gatun locks Tuesday without interrupting Canal operations. The 50-ton turntable will be replaced by a stronger, more maneuverable one in the following weeks. The new turntable will also improve locomotives’ operations and increase the locks’ capacity.
